Ridgeview Wine Estate

Ridgeview LogoThe vineyard is situated on a low limestone ridge sloping south towards the South Downs . High hills keep the micro climate comparatively dry and positively hot in the summer.

The winery produces about 55,000 bottles annually in a state of the art winery. The majority of the specialised equipment is imported from Epernay in Champagne . There is an underground cellar to store up to 250,000 bottles in perfect condition during the ageing process.

Since 2000 this vineyard has won 13 trophies and 42 medals in National and International competition including English Wine of the Year in 2000 and 2002 and 2 Silver Medals last year in France

Grape Varieties:

Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Thirteen French clones on three different vine stocks ensure variety for blending. Trellising is traditional single guyot.

Wines:

Sparkling white and rosé.
All wines are 'Merret' with a range of styles from non-vintage Belgravia through rosé 'Fitzrovia' to a vintage ' Bloomsbury '.

Visitors' Facilities:

The vineyard is open every day from 11am - 4.30pm for sales and tastings. Tours of the vineyard are £5 by appointment. There are also tutored tastings for groups which include blind tasting eight champagnes and sparkling wines. Ask what 'Merret' means!

Sales:

The wines are available direct from Waitrose, Wine Society, Laytons, Sunday Times Wine Club and other speciality retailers or direct through the Ridgeview web-site.

Directions:

Fragbarrow Lane is on the left 1.1/2 miles north of Ditchling on the B2112 and the estate is about 1/4 mile down the lane.
